How does my Honeywell security system work?

Here is a video Honeywell Security System User Guide:

Why does my keypad display “Not Ready”?

Your keypad is informing you that the alarm system is not ready to turn on (arm). Common reasons for this are that a door or window is not completely closed, a motion detector may be sensing movement, or a previous alarm has not been cleared out of the memory. To clear the alarm memory enter your 4 digit code and 1 (off button). Correct the condition and the alarm system will be ready to arm.

What type of battery do my wireless sensors take?

Most of our wireless sensors use either 9 volt alkaline or 3 volt lithium batteries. If the battery in your sensor is rectangular in shape it is a 9 volt alkaline. If the battery is cylindrical in shape it is most likely a 3 volt lithium and can be replaced with part number DL123A or CR123A. Some devices utilize 3 volt button cells as well. If you need help in determining the correct battery for your sensors or device please call our office.

My door used to chime when I went in and out, and now it doesn’t?

Try entering your 4 digit arm/disarm code and the number 9. This will engage the chime mode and will also disengage the chime mode if you decide you don’t want it to chime. If that doesn’t work it may be a bad contact on the door and you will need to call for service.

I have changed the batteries in my smoke detector, and the “low battery” still appears on my keypad?

Enter your code and off twice if this does not clear the keypad then take the batteries out of the smoke detector and wait 5 minutes. With the batteries out press the test button in on the smoke detector itself and hold it in for about a minute. Put the new batteries back into the smoke detector, put back on ceiling and then go to the keypad and enter your 4 digit code and off then your 4 digit code and off again This should clear the message from the keypad.

Why is my system beeping, and word “BATT” appears on the display?

Chances are this is a low system battery. The security system is equipped with a back up battery in the event of a power outage. These batteries last anywhere between 3 and 5 years then needs replaced. If however the display reads No AC and then batt. This would indicate either a power outage, the transformer has become unplugged, a ground fault outlet has tripped ( the red and black buttons on outlets close to water supplies), a breaker itself has tripped or the outlet itself may be bad. The transformer can be either a tan or black box plugged into an outlet close to the panel. In some instances it can be in the rafters in the basement area. After locating the transformer make sure it is plugged in tight. Then check outlets, breakers and ground fault outlets. If none of these solve the problem call for service.

How do I change my code?

The Security Network can change your code for you remotely from our office with just a phone call to us during normal business hours of 8 AM through 5PM Monday through Friday. With our more popular panels to change the code yourself enter your 4 digit code the number 8 and the number 02 (which is the master code position) and the new code and then the new code again. This must be done in a continuous motion. To add an additional code enter the master code,8 then position 03 and the new code. The system will beep once indicating it has accepted the new or additional code. On some panels the position code may be a single digit 2 or 3. You can call our office for this information.

I set my alarm on instant or maximum and when I opened the door the alarm did not go off immediately – Why?

Even if the alarm is set on instant or maximum it still allows you time to leave, once the exit delay has expired ( Usually 45 seconds) the alarm will go off immediately upon opening the door.

What is the difference between the away and stay modes on the keypad?

The away mode arms the system in its entirety. The stay button arms the perimeter only and not the interior devices like motion detectors. This allows you to move freely about the home and still have protection on the perimeter.

My alarm tripped and no one called me?

If the alarm has been tripped by accident and our monitoring center does not call within a minute call the monitoring center directly to report the error. This will prevent the police from being dispatched. Many people now have voice mail or call blocking, if this is the case you may not receive the call on time. If your keypad displays FC this indicates failure to communicate and could be due to telephone line or equipment failure. If this appears on your display call our office to schedule service.

I changed the battery in my transmitter and the keypad won’t clear?

The transmitter must be put back on in the right direction. If you put it on upside down it will not clear. Try turning the transmitter around and then enter your 4 digit code and off twice.
